Paul Travis is the founder and President of Washington Square Partners, where he advises corporations, nonprofit institutions and government entities on repositioning real estate assets and resolving complex land-use issues. Since its founding, WSQ has played a key role in major redevelopment initiatives, including Moynihan Station, the New-York Historical Society, Downtown Brooklyn, Cooper Union, Theatre Row, New York Methodist Hospital and 400 Fifth Avenue.
Mr. Travis is a partner in City Point, a 1.8-million-square-foot mixed-use development in Downtown Brooklyn. He is also a partner at Kingsbridge Development Partners, which developed the Shops at Marble Hill—the first major private commercial development in the Bronx in 20 years.
Before founding WSQ, Mr. Travis served as Chief Operating Officer of Forest City Ratner Companies in New York City. In that role, he oversaw the development and leasing of MetroTech Center, a 4.5-million-square-foot complex in Downtown Brooklyn. He also led the revitalization of Lincoln Road and the development of the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, the city’s first new convention center hotel.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Travis worked at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, then known as the Public Development Corporation, where he directed the 42nd Street Development Project and managed commercial and industrial development initiatives throughout the city, including the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square.
Mr. Travis is a member of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the boards of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and Southampton Arts Center.
